Botox, Collagen, and fat injections are popular non-surgical techniques for treating facial lines and wrinkles. Patients usually are pleased with the results of these minimally invasive procedures. Injectable wrinkle treatments, however, cannot correct facial sagging or achieve the same results as a face lift, eyelid surgery, brow lift, or skin resurfacing.
Botox is most effective in treating the type of lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contraction during facial expression such as frowning or squinting. Common areas for Botox injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and “crow’s feet” around the eyes. Botox is injected directly into the muscles in these areas to reduce their activity. Usually within a few days after your injections, the expression lines in the treatment areas will appear noticeably softer.
The improvement from Botox lasts from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months. The average is 4 months.
